UltraGrid privacy policy
Last updated 12 October 2026
UltraGrid Studio is a Shopify app made by Colourmedia. It lets a shop arrange its collection pages, run storefront search and product recommendations, and see which of them lead to sales. This policy explains what information UltraGrid handles when a shop installs it, why, and how long it is kept.
Information from the shop
When a merchant installs UltraGrid, Shopify gives the app access to the shop's data it needs to work:
- the shop's name and domain, and the UltraGrid settings, layouts and campaigns the merchant creates;
- products, collections, inventory and files, to build collection layouts, search and recommendations;
- paid orders: the order number, total, currency and line items, to tell the merchant which sales came from UltraGrid;
- the shop's UltraGrid plan, so Shopify can bill the merchant.
Information about the shop's customers
UltraGrid does not store customers' names, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers or payment details. When someone browses the shop, UltraGrid records:
- random visitor and session identifiers, which are not linked to the customer's account;
- which products, collections, recommendations and search results were shown and clicked;
- the words typed into the shop's search;
- when an order follows a click, the order it belongs to.
How the information is used
Only to provide UltraGrid to the shop: to show products in the order the merchant chose, to rank search results and recommendations, and to report clicks, orders and revenue to the merchant. UltraGrid does not sell information, use it for advertising, or combine it with information from other shops.
How long it is kept
Information is kept while the shop has UltraGrid installed. When Shopify tells UltraGrid that a customer's data must be erased, UltraGrid deletes the records of that customer's orders. 48 hours after a shop uninstalls UltraGrid, everything UltraGrid holds for the shop is deleted.
Where it is stored
UltraGrid runs on rented cloud servers and databases. Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The only other company that receives it is Shopify, which runs the shop.
Browser storage
On the shop's storefront, UltraGrid keeps the random visitor and session identifiers in the customer's browser storage, and adds them to the cart so an order can be matched to the click that led to it. It sets no tracking or advertising cookies.
Your rights
To ask for a copy of your data or for it to be deleted, contact the shop you bought from; the shop asks UltraGrid through Shopify. You can also contact us directly. If you are in the UK or the EU you may complain to your data protection authority, in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office.
